Method

- In a mixing bowl, whisk together the milk and sugar until the sugar dissolves, about 1 minute.
- Add the 3 eggs to the milk mixture.
- Whisk the egg mixture until well blended, about 2 minutes.
- Heat a nonstick skillet or griddle over medium heat.
- Lightly coat the skillet with nonstick cooking spray.
- Dip a bread slice into the egg mixture, coating both sides briefly. Do not soak.
- Place the dipped bread slice onto the hot skillet.
- Repeat dipping and placing bread slices until the skillet is full (a household skillet holds about 2-3 slices at a time, so cook in batches).
- Cook the bread slices for about 1.5 minutes, until golden brown on the bottom.
- Flip each slice.
- Cook for about 1.5 minutes on the second side, until golden brown and the egg coating reaches an internal temperature of 145°F for at least 15 seconds.
- Remove the cooked bread slices from the skillet to a plate.
- Lightly re-coat the skillet with nonstick cooking spray.
- Repeat the dipping, cooking, and removing with any remaining bread slices, about 1.5 minutes per side, until golden brown and the egg coating reaches 145 F.
- Serve immediately.
